A Memoir of Mary Brave Bird (1954-2013) aged 58 years - A writer and activist. She grew up on the Pine Ridge Reservation in the 1960s. She wrote about her trials of being a Sioux young woman, whilst overcoming personal traumas such as single motherhood. She faced trials of being a woman in a traditionally patriarchal society, confronting domestic abuse, prejudice and grinding poverty. Her Lakota spirit refused to succumb. Mary fought hard all of her short life for justice for her people.
