The starting point for this drawing was raw materials, in particular ‘water’ and the fashion industry. There does not appear to be an established form of criticism comparable with the arts or literature. The fashion magazines provide the framework for readers with the latest styles, which determines how people think about clothes. They also recommend which styles are best for casual and or business. A staggering 10,000 items of clothing is being sent to landfill equivalent to £140 million in value each year. The amount of raw materials used to produce these items are going to waste. For example it takes 1,800 gallons of water to make one pair of jeans.
