Drawing: Graphite, Blackwing, KOH-NOOR pencils on Paper.
This magnificent royal blue butterfly was declared extinct in 1979, which has now returned to Wales. The wings of the large blue butterfly are speckled with black dots, it has a wingspan of up to 52mm depending on whether it is male or female. It scientific name is Phengaris arion.
Inspired by Iolo Williams a Welsh nature expert in Snowdonia, North Wales. I hope the viewer will appreciate the beauty of nature and how we can encourage the once extinct butterfly to return. The medium I used is graphite pencils. I find it improves the eye-hand coordination and improves my ability to draw accurately what I see, which brings enjoyment.
